Virginia R. Mattachione (Meyer) 1932-2016, age 84, of North Canton passed away on May 11, 2016. She was born in Byesville, Ohio, as the daughter of Beatrice (Nicholson) and Rev. Otto C. Meyer. After graduating from Lehman High School, she left for New York City and became a Conover and Powers model. While she wore many hats throughout her life, her best role was as a devoted wife and loving mother whose heart knew no bounds. Her family was her biggest treasure. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and the love of her life, Mario J. Mattachione, and her brother Victor N. Meyer. She is survived by daughters Sue Oryszak, Laura (Ed) Firth, and sons Douglas and Joe (Gina) Mattachione as well as six grandchildren, Jonah and Michael Oryszak, Ellen and Ed Firth, Lynia and Samario Mattachione, brother-in-law Albert Hosner, and sister-in-law Gloria Sikora. As per Virginia's request, there will be no calling hours. There will be a private family graveside service, followed by a celebration of life to be announced at a later date. Internment will be in St. Peter Cemetery. The family wishes to extend special thanks to all those at Advantage Home Health Care and to the angels at Crossroads Hospice for their guidance and support throughout this journey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stark County Humane Society or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
