"Bill" Withers, Jr.
July 11, 1924 – February 23, 2013
WILLIAM G. "BILL" WITHERS JR., age 88 of Canton, passed away Saturday morning. Born in Fairmont, WV to the late William G. Sr. and Ora L. (Haynes) Withers he was preceded in death by his wife Gloria Withers on January 15, 1992, son-in-law Gary E. Vallee, brothers Bobby and Grover Withers, sisters Neva Witt, Ella Ann Hawkinberry and Leona Cliett. A Canton resident since 1959, Bill was a Navy veteran of WW II. He retired from the Timken Company after 28 years of service and worked as a school crossing guard for Canton City Schools system. He was a member of the 11 th St. Church of God, Boy Scouts of America Buckeye Council, Stark County Federation of Conservation Club, National Turkey Federation, United Steel Workers Local #1123 and various other clubs and organizations. He is survived by his children; Sandra Dodd of Perry Twp, Sue Vallee of McMinnville, TN, Bill and Stephanie Withers, Don and Lisa Withers all of Canton, nine grandchildren; Robert Dodd III, Ryan Dodd, Stacey (Vaughan) Parker, Kevin (Kim) Vallee, Lynsey (Ben) Kelly, Nicholas Withers, Caleb and Jared Withers, Michelle (Jeff) Heath and children, nine great-grandchildren; Tylar and Marques Epps, Brice Miller, Adelle Raber, Reid Vallee, Noah Jon Kelly, Annabelle Grace Kelly, Austin Neff, Brianna Dodd, great-great grandchildren Jayden and Khamya, sister Martha Casuccio of Watkinsville, GA and special friend Ruth Angelo. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 5 to 8 pm at the Rossi Funeral Home and Wednesday morning from 10 to 11. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 am in the funeral home with Pastor Randy Schaffer officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America Buckeye Council, 2301 13 th St. N.W., Canton, Ohio 44708.
