June 21, 1935 – March 24, 2014
WILLIAM PAUL STAVRIANOU, age 78 of Canton, passed away Monday morning after an extended illness. Born in East Pittsburgh, PA, to the late Apostolos and Efterpi Stavrianou, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Steve and Tula Stavros and niece Terri Woodworth. A graduate of East Pittsburgh High School, Bill attended Kent State University. He retired from the Hoover Company in 2001 after 27 years of service. He was a member of St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church where he sang in the Choir, belonged to the Men's Club and the Senior Citizens group. He was an avid outdoorsman who love to hunt, fish, work in his garden and play golf but especially love to play with his adored granddaughter Eva. He looked forward to vacationing in Nags Head, NC and going to the McKinley football and basketball games. Bill was a jokester and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a devoted husband, father and Papou and will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife of 51 years Chris Anne (Simitaculos) Stavrianou, sons Paul Stavrianou (Tonya), Philip Stavrianou, daughter Valerie Stavrianou, granddaughter Eva, nephew Paul (Linda) Stavros, and niece Sophia Stavros (Chris). Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at the Rossi Funeral Home with Trisagion Services to be held at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be on Friday at 11:00 am at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church with calling hours one hour before services at 10:00 am, Rev. Dr. Nicholas V. Gamvas officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Bill's name may be made to St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church or the Ladies Philoptohos Society.
