Anna (Kalaitsides) Karvounides, age 89 of Canton, peacefully passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021. She was born on September 25, 1931, in Katafito, Greece to the late Jordan and Anatole Kalaitsides. Anna persevered through adversity at a young age, and later married John Karvounides. They started their family in Krya Vrysi, Greece, before moving to the United States in 1967.
Anna worked at Canton City Bakery while raising her four children, which was her highest priority. Anna was admired for her compassionate heart, positivity, and effortless grace in all her actions. She was a life long member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Koraes Ladies Society, and the Pontian Society “Komninoi.”
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Yianni, beloved sister Anthoula (Kostas) Isaklides and brothers Paraskevas (Paraskevi), Spyros, Savvas and Stavros Kalaitsides. Anna is survived by her sons George (Anna) Karvounides, Jordan (Argie) Karvounides, Gus (friend, Michelle) Karvounides, and daughter Parthena (Vasilios) Stamatelopoulos. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Angela (Vagelis) Varvaras, Dina Karvounides, Yianni G. Karvounides, Anna Lea (Manolis) Tiliakos, Angelica (William) Stephanian, Yianni J. (Lisa) Karvounides, Mihali and Yianni Stamatelopoulos; and cherished great grandchildren, Eleftheria and Anna Sophia Varvaras, Yianni and Argie Tiliakos. Anna is survived by her dearest sister-in-law Mickey Kalaitsides, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
A special thank you to her caregivers and Mercy Hospice who treated our mother with respect, dignity, and care.
