Audrey Lupfer Obituary

Audrey Kay Lupfer age 68 of Canton, passed away Monday, May 18th 2020. She was born in Altoona, PA December 1st 1951. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles Elmer Lupfer and Audrey Deloris (Burns) Lupfer. She is survived by her brother Bruce Lupfer, Sister Melody Lupfer, nephew Jeffrey Lupfer Sr. nieces Stephanie Lupfer (Michael) and Paula Colbetzor (Daniel). Great Nephew’s Austin Colbetzor, Dylan Colbetzor, Jeffrey Lupfer Jr and Great niece’s Kimberly Ackerman (Cory), Faith Colbetzor, & Jayde Lupfer.

Audrey Kay was named after her mother, Audrey Deloris, but the family knew her as Kay. She was a 1970 graduate of McKinley High School. She made donations to animal charities. Her love of animals began at a friend’s farm with the dogs, kittens, and cows in the barn. She would herd in the cows for milking and help make the butter and ice cream. She enjoyed planting a garden and canning. She learned her cooking and baking skills from her grandmother. Audrey was known for her baking of fresh breads, cookies, and pies that paired well with homemade jellies.

Audrey was a Girl Scout and loved nature, hiking, songs, crafts, camping and campfires, aka S’mores. We as a family would always watch for deer, near the tree lines, in the fields at dust, while camping and hiking through the Pennsylvania Mountains. We would stop for a Pikes Peak ice cream. We never passed an ice cream stand as we had to try them all. Her love of art, started when she used her crayons to color with her mother. She progressed to sketching, water colors, and oil paintings.

Audrey could always find time to climb a tree in her backyard and read a good book. Her love of books lead to her writing children stories. Her nieces, nephews and other children enjoyed listening to them, as she was a caregiver to them and the family. For fun she knitted, made jewelry, candy, and root beer. The family would take Sunday drives, listen to music on Dad’s Guitar and Organ and put puzzles together. We played games of Yahtzee, croquet, Karim and hearty games of Pinochle.

Audrey was a member of St Peter Catholic Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She previously was an office assistant at St Paul Catholic School. She was a sponsor, Godmother, and often took her nieces to Saturday Mass with her. Her patron Saint was Saint Theresa. Audrey dreamed at an early age of becoming a Nun. She spent time with the Carmelite Nun’s, but came home to take care of her family both spiritually and physically. The family would love to thank her for the years of caregiving that she gave us, she will missed by all. In the Peace of God’s loving hands, she lay at rest.
