Charles “Charlie” E. Bennett, Jr., age 77 of Canton, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021. He was born in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania on September 16, 1943, and was a graduate of Canton Lincoln High School. Charlie was a retired employee of Superior Meats, an avid hunter, and a member of the North Canton Elks.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Stella (Scipione) Bennett of Canton; his children Tony (Medinah) Bennett, Jim (Antoinette) Barnhart, Diane (Jim) Coobatis all of Canton, and Debbie Wackerly of Malvern. Also survived by brother Jack Bennett of Florida; seven grandchildren Natalie Bennett, Anthony Bennett, Devan Barnhart, Christina Coobatis, Frank Coobatis, Ryan (Brittany) Wackerly, Nicole (Isaac) Gotchall; and three great-grandchildren Xavier, Paisley, and Jocelyn Wackerly.
Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Wednesday 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home at 12 noon, with Msgr. Lewis Gaetano officiating.
A special thanks to Sheila Tolliver for the gift of her kidney to Chuck, and to Dr. James Johns and Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital for their compassionate care during Chuck's illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Parkinson's Foundation.
