Daniel Simile Obituary

Daniel W. Simile, age 84 of North Canton, passed away Monday, April 10, 2023. Born in Canton to the late William and Catherine (Muccilli) Simile in 1939, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Jane (Keyer) Simile.

Dan was a 1957 graduate of Lincoln High School, and served in the U. S. Army from 1957 to 1960 singing in the Army Chorus. While working and raising a family, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from The University of Akron in 1967. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in North Canton, The Unique Club Stark County, the Canton Lincoln High School Alumni Association, and the Greater Canton Mens Chorus. Dan started his career in industrial management and used his extraverted nature to quickly branch into different industries. He was a top salesman at several companies and owner of Patrick’s Drive-In for 10 years prior to spending many years and concluding his career in the real estate industry.

Dan was his children’s greatest advocate regardless of activity and seldom missed an event. He involved himself with his grandchildren, whom he loved and admired with great joy, with the same passion. Dan donated countless hours to the schools of St. John the Baptist in Canton and St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Louisville. He loved being part of a large family beyond his own and enjoyed his wife’s family, the Keyers in Louisville, Kentucky, and his mother’s second family, the Rossettis of Canton. Dan was an active person with diverse interests and spent time in The Players Guild of Canton, “working out” at the YMCA of North Canton, attending Unique Club events, playing cards, enjoying golf, horse racing, college and Browns football, Guardians baseball, music, books on tape, cooking Italian food, interacting with people, and most of all road-tripping and visiting the local park with Jane, the love of his life.

Dan is survived by his children Catherine (Janet Chance) Simile of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dan (Belinda) Simile, Jr. of Columbus, Michael (Julie) Simile of Green, Laura (Kevin) Cummins of Cincinnati and Bill (Tarie) Simile of Toledo. Also survived by grandchildren Danielle, Michael Jacob, Amanda, Spencer, Anna, Sydnie, Matthew, AJ, and Sean; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special cousins Carol (Chuck) Riegler and Anthony (Angela) DiSimone who he considered his siblings. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to loyal friend Fred (Rita) Henning.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, April 17th from 5 to 7 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, 10:00 am, at St. Paul Catholic Church in North Canton with Rev. Fr. John Keehner celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
