Dennis A. Kapalko age 69 of Canton, passed away early Monday morning after a long battle with Lewy Bodies Dementia; a rare form of Parkinson's Disease. He was a gentle, kind and compassionate man who always put family first, a true friend and a man of honor and integrity. He will be most remembered by his love of classic cars, antiques, music of all kinds and Cleveland Sports. He will be missed by all who knew him, and those whose lives he touched. Born in Alliance, Ohio to the late Emil and Olga (Gretchko) Kapalko, he was also preceded in death by his brother Jerry Kapalko and Godfather Tim Culliton. Dennis was a 1967 graduate of Sebring High School. He attended Youngstown State University, Kent State University and Akron University. He was a Navy veteran of the Viet Nam War serving aboard the destroyer USS Forrest Sherman. A member of St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, Dennis was also a member of the St. Haralambos Men's Club, former member of the parish council, AHEPA #59 and the AMHAS Society. He is survived by his wife Katherine C. (Nyktas) Kapalko with whom he would have celebrated 45 years of marriage in May, son Athan Kapalko and his children Aris and Isabella, daughter and son-in-law Aliki and Kevin Marchaza and their daughter Kamila, sisters-in-law Elaine (Carl) Brubaker, Maria (Michael) Harrold, brother-in-law George (Cathy) Nyktas, Godmother Toni Culliton, and Godson Steve Vallos. He was a favorite uncle to Stephanie, Angela, Emily, Elizabeth (his Goddaughter), Cassie, Chesney and Stephen. Family and friends will be received on Friday from 5 to 8 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home and Saturday morning from 10 to 11 am in church. Trisagion service will be Friday at 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 am in St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Dr. Nicholas V. Gamvas officiating. Internment will be in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Dennis' name may be made to St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church or LBDA, 912 Killian Hill Rd. S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047.
