Dixie Lee Dimos

Dixie Lee Dimos, age 78, passed away peacefully Sunday evening October 10, 2021. She is together again and rejoicing in heaven with the love of her life Nick Dimos (2005), her son Marc Dimos (2018) and the many loved ones that have passed. Dixie was a long-time resident of East Canton and in subsequent years a resident of Brunswick Point Transitional Care. Dixie was a devoted Mother, YiaYia, Sister and friend to many. She had a gentle, kind-hearted, and caring soul revealed by her Greek Orthodox faith and baptismal name “Evdoxia” (Good Glory). She had a delightful sense of humor and smile that warmed the hearts of those around her. On May 28, 1943, she was born in Canton, Ohio being of late descent by Walter Martin, Sr. and Oshel Martin. Dixie graduated from Canton McKinley High School in 1961…meeting her lifelong companion Nick Dimos and marrying him in 1964. As a Certified Nurse Assistant at JT Nist, Molly Stark, and Edwin Shaw Hospital she retired in 2005. Her compassion, caring heart combined with nursing skills shined when Nick was sick with cancer in 2005. In addition to her full-time jobs, she worked the family business Dimos Cyclery, sold Avon, and drove school bus for East Canton Local School District. Most importantly, she was a devoted Mom tending to her three boys: Marc, Jeffrey, and Jason. Tirelessly, she provided for their every need as well as attending all their sporting events ensuring they had the cleanest uniforms. She enjoyed playing board games, cooking, gardening, dancing with Nick on Saturday evenings and simply being with friends and family. Her avgolemono soup, German potato salad, rice pudding, and dinner rolls were the absolute best, a legacy for future family generations to enjoy. She made family vacations including camping, fishing, Myrtle Beach, Canada, and Greece perfect and complete.

Dixie is survived by her children: Jeffrey and Angela Dimos of Jackson Township and their children Sophia, Jonathan, and Ethan; Jason and Susan Dimos of Brunswick and their children Elizabeth, Nicole, and Kenny; the late Marc and Renee Dimos and their children: Vasilli (William) and Stephanie Dimos plus great grandchildren Mason and Marc, Niko & Hannah Dimos along with a great grandchild Claire, Maria and Kosta; Josh and Emily Smith with a great grandchild Harper; and Jacob Smith. Dixie was from a large family of nine children survived by her beloved sisters Kay Foster and Lois Maupin of Canton, Ohio and her brother Darrell and Annette Martin of Tampa Bay, Florida.

Dixie is preceded in death by her husband Nick Dimos, son Marc Dimos, father and mother Walter Martin, Sr. and Oshel Martin, three brothers Donald Martin, Earl Martin, Walter Martin, Jr. and two sisters Darlene Seemann and Joyce Ronding.

The family and friends would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the outpouring of support, thoughts, and prayers during this difficult time.
