Eleanor Marie (Silveri) DeSantis

Eleanor Marie (Silveri) DeSantis, age 91 of Canton, passed away Thursday evening. Born in Canton to the late Emidio and Carmela (Casilio) Silveri, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Salvatore J. DeSantis; sisters Mary (Victor) Dezio, Margaret (Tony) Fanale, Evelyn Silveri, and Emily Keeton. Eleanor was a 1949 graduate of Timken Vocational High School where she learned dressmaking. She would work for Louis Otterbien Interior Design and then for herself as a talented seamstress. She took great pride in her work and enjoyed sharing her talents with others. She was a dedicated member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hope Ministries, and the Ben Marconi Sons of Italy Lodge #1628. Eleanor worked for many years with the Stark County Italian American Festival, where she organized all the volunteers. She is survived by her children Emil S. DeSantis, Carolyn (Scott) Barnard, seven grandchildren; Matthew DeSantis, Amanda (Bryan) Birker, Andrew (Meshal) DeSantis, Zachary, Joshua, Jacob, and Rebecca Barnard, three great-grandchildren; Mara and Ava Birker, Brodie McIntyre, brothers-in-law George Keeton, Ferdinand (Mary) DeSantis, John (Laurine) DeSantis, sisters-in-law Virginia Jurewicz, Phyllis (Joseph) Amato, Ann Koehler, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Eleanor was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved to cook, bake and kept an immaculate house. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, 11:00 am, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Benson Okpara celebrant.
