Faiz G. Shaheen
Obituary
Faiz G. Shaheen, age 88 of Canton, passed away Monday, April 18, 2022. Faiz was born in Arneh, Syria on February 25, 1934 to the late George and Mariam Shaheen. Faiz was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, the Phoenicians Men's Club, Order of St. Ignatius, and the Father and Son Hunt Club. Faiz was an employee of the City of Canton where he was employed as a Store Keeper, and later worked for Irwin Steel as a Welder, retiring in 2000.
In addition to his parents, Faiz was preceded in death his son George in 1997. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Aida of the home; sons Faiz Simone (Jamie) Shaheen and Joseph (Sarah) Shaheen of Canton; sisters Julia Kousiry of Florida, Takla Farah of Canton, Michel (Richard) Genda of Brunswick, and Nina Shaheen of Green; and brother Sid Shaheen of Texas.
Family and friends will be received Thursday at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin in the church at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Fr. Michael Corbin officiating. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church in Faiz's memory.
