Francis O. Hagan

Francis O. Hagan, 86, of Canton, Ohio, passed away on Friday, June 17th, at home. Frank was born on October 20, 1935, in North Crosby, Ontario to his beloved parents, Alphonsus and Mary Mable Hagan who preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife, Judith (Stephans) Hagan, four children, Patrick (Svetlana) Hagan, Kathleen (Robert) Hon, Mary (Tedmund) Tiberi, and Elizabeth (Stephen) Crowe, twelve grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren with another one due in July.

Frank moved to Niagara Falls, Ontario in his college years where he met the love of his life, Judy, through the Catholic Youth Organization. While courting, Frank would walk across the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls to visit Judy where their love blossomed. Frank and Judy married on June 28, 1958, at Our Lady of Lebanon Catholic Church after four years of a long-distance relationship.

After obtaining degrees from Ryerson Institute in Toronto, Erie Community College in Buffalo, and Elmira College in Elmira, Frank had a long career as an industrial engineer, working for Corning Glass Works, Bendix, Allied Signal, and Bosch. Through growth and acquisitions of the companies he worked for, Frank and his family spent years in Elmira, NY, Lewisburg, WV, South Bend, IN, and Gallatin, TN. Frank retired in 2000 and moved back to South Bend to be closer to his children and grandchildren. Frank loved sports, especially hockey, and was an avid fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Growing up in Canada, he was a natural on the ice and always enjoyed skating. Frank was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and loved his family and Catholic faith.

Calling hours will be held at Little Flower Catholic Parish in Canton on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, from 10-11am. The funeral service with Mass will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Little Flower.
