GEORGE B. MORETTA, age 78 of East Canton, passed away Saturday evening. He was born in Bergholz, Ohio to the late George and Helen (Neider) Moretta and was preceded in death by his brother William Moretta. He was a graduate of East Canton High School, member of Living Hope Church and the F.O.P. George began his law enforcement career at the Canton City Police Department in 1965, serving in the patrol division. He went on to serve in the detective bureau, vice squad, K-9 unit, and jail division; retiring in 2002 after 37 years of service. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Debbi and Ernest DePalmo, daughters Brenda and Vicki Moretta, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sisters Barbara Weigand and Dolly Bowersox, brother Larry Moretta, many nieces, nephews, companion Rita Barr, and good friend Michael DeWalt. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at the Rossi Funeral Home and Thursday from 10 to 11 am. F.O.P. Services will be held at 3:45 pm Wednesday. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 11 am in the funeral home with Pastor Duane Miller officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Aultman Hospital for their care and support. George requested red roses at his funeral.
