Obituary

GEORGE W. PIGGOTT.

George was born on December 17, 1931 in Midland, Pennsylvania to Andrew and Ethel Piggott. He graduated in the Class of “49” from Lincoln High School and also graduated from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in the Class of “52.” He then served his country during the Korean War as a Master Gunner with the 17th AAA Group and earned the rank of Sergeant. He met the Love of his Life while ice skating on the back waters of the Ohio River, and they were married after he was discharged from the Army. He liked the Big Band music and had almost every record and CD that Doris Day ever made. He worked in the Hot Strip and engineering department at Crucible Steel in Midland before going to Louisville to work for J&L in the cold roll department, where he worked for 35 years. Although 90% of his working time was in the steel mills, he always wanted to work for Walt Disney. George and Lois loved to vacation in Colorado in September when the Aspen were in their golden glory where they would ride and photograph the narrow gauge steam trains and explore and walk through the old mining towns. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, but his favorite players were Stan Musial and Johnny Unitas.
George is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Lois (Dobronz) Piggott, children Jeff Piggott of North Canton, Dirk and Kimberley Piggott of Ravenna, Heidi and Eugene Murari of Canton, four grandchildren Amanda (Tedd), Abigail (Robert), Sarah (Drew), Andrew (Shannon), step-grandchildren Melissa (Joe), Jason, five great grandchildren Trevor, Ava, Reagan, Remington, Olivia, multiple step-great grandchildren, and one step-great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church.
