George Young Obituary

George A. Young, age 81 of Canton, passed away Thursday afternoon. Born in Canton to the late George A. and Lucy M.(Donato)Young, he was also preceded in death by sisters Carol Lunsford, Linda Sambroak, and brother Anthony Gottschalk. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School class of '57. He was a veteran with the Navy Reserves. He met his future wife at the Meyers Lake Ballroom where he decided that he liked the way Miss Koons danced and thought, "I'd better not let her go!" Later, he and his wife were active at Peace UMC. He retired from Diebold, Inc. with over 40 years of service. George was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved to go camping with his family. He was a good provider and helpful to anyone who had a need. He had a big heart for his grandchildren. His biggest prayer was that everyone in his family would come to know and love Jesus Who was his Savior. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Joyce M. (Koons) Young, children Amy (Bob) Crawford, Todd A. Young, grandchildren Michael, Katie, Stacy, Ben, Meigan, great grandchildren Brooke and Brock. Due to the Coronavirus, services will be private.
