Harry “Butch” Gulley, age 74 of Canton, passed away Friday, September 8th after an extended illness. Butch was born on August 3, 1949, was a 1967 graduate of East Canton High School and Stark State College. He was inducted into the US Army in June 1969, serving six years, including two tours in Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Soldier of the Month and Good Conduct Medals. Butch owned and operated numerous businesses, and, most recently, was a successful salesman at Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown, Ohio.
He is survived by his mother, Irene Gulley, children Amy (Joe) Whitman of Canton, Eric (Amy) Gulley of Westerville, Nicole (Bill) Ugalde of Chandler, Arizona, grandchildren: Olivia, Brock, Jonathan, Samuel, Lauren and Blakely. Also survived by his dear sister and brother-in-law Anita (John) Randolph, Terry (Darlene) Gulley and numerous nieces and nephews. Butch is preceded in death by his father, Harry Gulley and brother, Jay Gulley. The family also wishes to express gratitude to his close friend, Jim Krenzer, for being there for him when he needed him the most. Butch will be remembered for his love of golf, good times, games of chance, and countless entrepreneurial endeavors.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following at 7 p.m. at Rossi Family Funeral Home. Interment and full military honors will be on Thursday at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, at 1 p.m., located at 10175 Rowiga Road, Seville, OH 44273.
