James W. Cross

James W. Cross age 92 of North Canton, passed away Wednesday morning. Born in North Canton to the late James G. and Elizabeth (Workman) Cross, he was preceded in death by his son David and brother John Cross. James was a graduate of North Canton (Hoover) High School and an Army veteran serving during WW II in the Korean Theater. He was retired from Republic Steel. He was a 59 year member of A.A., North Canton Elks Lodge #2029, and the Massillon American Legion Post #221. He is survived by his wife of 38 years Darlene (Troy) Cross, children Thomas Cross, Kathleen (Michael) Macris, step-children Phil (Angela) Giavasis, Paul (Elaine) Giavasis, Louis (Jennifer) Giavasis, Missy Giavasis, Cathy Racey Giavasis, six grandchildren: George (Jamie) Macris, James (Rachael) Macris, Sarah (Rob) Netro, Jesse, Clayton, and David Cross, 19 step-grandchildren and great grandchildren, and sister-in-law Sandy Cross. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 10 to 11 am at Zion United Church of Christ with services to follow at 11, Rev. Eli Klingensmith officiating. Interment will be in North Canton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in James' name may be made to Zion United Church of Christ.
