Jean Marie (Mark) Ascani
Jean passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 5, 2021 following a sudden illness. Born in East Canton to the late Harold and Marie (Ferry) Mark, she graduated from East Canton High School and attended an airline training program in Kansas City, Missouri. She was hired by American Airlines and greatly enjoyed working as a ticket agent at the Akron-Canton Airport. Putting her career on hold to raise her family, she then spent the last 35 years as the office manager for the Downtowner Congregate Housing facility and maintained impeccable book keeping that was always lauded by her accountant. Jean is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Tom, sons Tom and Todd (Amy) Ascani and daughter Tracy (Bryan) Rice. Six grandchildren who were her source of joy and inspiration; Michael, Mark, Anna, Gabriella, and Anthony Ascani and J.T. Rice; brother and sisters-in-law Gene (Janet) and Phyllis Ascani; cousin, Grace Mark and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, as the youngest of five, she was preceded in death by her siblings Bob, Joan, Donnie and Janice; brother-in-law Roger Ascani; father-in-law and mother-in-law Thomas and Filomena Ascani. Jean will always be remembered for her beautiful yard, where she spent countless hours perfecting it. She never turned down a trip to a casino and seemed to have a magic touch with the slot machines. She enjoyed mass with her husband at the Sancta Clara Monastery, a special place that provided her with peace and comfort. The Ascani family expressed sincere appreciation to Dr. Joseph Saadey, Aultman Hospital and the Compassionate Care Center for their professional care and kindness. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 am at St. Anthony/All Saints Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian burial to follow at 11:00, Rev. Fr. Tom Kraszewski and Rev. Fr. Tom Bishop con celebrating. Entombment will be in Northlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
