John Manse, Jr. Obituary

John Manse passed away on September 24th, 2021. A memorial mass will be held on September 30th at 10 a.m. at the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist in downtown Canton. John was born November 13, 1944, in Canton to Leroy and Ida Manse. Although his early years were in Louisville, he was a graduate of Timken High School where he was a standout athlete.
John was well known for his career in the auto industry and maintained his own dealership, Manse Auto Sales, for 42 years. He lived an active and healthy lifestyle over his 76 years. His most passionate sports being baseball, tennis and golf. John played AAA baseball. He was inducted into the Stark County Amateur Baseball HOF in 1988. John played 2nd base and shortstop from 1961 to 1976 for Black Label, Timken, Downtown Ford and Suarez Inc. He was a three-time all star and held a lifetime .311 batting average while playing on three championship teams.

John's dedication to his family and friends goes without saying. If you needed something, he was the first one to step up and help. He was quick to give a kind word or flash his bright smile as he walked through the door for a visit.
