John W. Mikstay

JOHN W. MIKSTAY (88), born February 7, 1934 to the late Stephen and Elizabeth Mikstay, went to be with the Lord on October 11, 2021. John attended Central Catholic and McKinley High Schools, and received his diploma in the U.S. Army where he served his country for 3 years, 2 years of which as an MP in Germany. He was a U.S. Postal Carrier for over 13 years, and was the ultimate handyman, working as a brick and cement layer, and provided a variety of home improvement jobs for his clients over many years. He is proceeded in death by his brothers Steve & Joe Mikstay, and sisters Betty Davis, Mary DeMarzio, Irene Crilley, & Barbara Mikstay. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife & soul-mate of 63 years, Virginia (Evangelista) Mikstay of Canton, OH, his daughter Dana Mikstay (Ronna Hoffberg) of Chicago, IL, daughter Antonetta (Toni) Mikstay of Canton, OH, and son John Mikstay, Jr.(Mandi Carroll ) of Ivoryton, CT, and twin brother James Mikstay (Doris) of Canton, OH, as well as numerous nieces and nephews throughout the country. He was a member of Trinity Gospel Temple for 53 years, where he was employed for 25 years, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School. John had a fabulous sense of humor, and was loved by all who knew him. Visitation will be held at Rossi Family Funeral Home, 730 30th Street NW, Canton, on Friday 10/15, from 5pm-7pm. Visitation Saturday 10am -11am with funeral service to follow, to be held at Trinity Gospel Temple, 1612 Tuscarawas Street NW, officiated by Pastor David Lombardi and Pastor Sharon Carnes. Internment will be held at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens following the service. The family wishes to thank the ER and 5th Floor nurses and medical staff at Aultman Hospital, for the tremendous care and attention they provided.
