“I tell you the truth; whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed from death to life.” John 5:24
Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Friend. John Michael Schoeppner, known as “Shep” to his friends, born October 26, 1965, age 57, passed away Friday morning October 20, 2023 at their home in Marco Island, Florida due to complications of an extended illness.
John is survived by: wife Elisa (Manos) Schoeppner, daughter Emma Schoeppner/ (Willa) of Durham, North Carolina, son Michael Schoeppner and daughter Marissa Schoeppner both of Canton. His sisters, Carrie Stewart (Kevin) and Chris Davis. Included also are numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and his trusted office manager, Danelle Hill, along with nephew Michael DeVoll, his right-hand man.
John is preceded in death by his parents Walt and Rhoda Schoeppner, brother Walter (Wally) Schoeppner, Jr., and best friend Perry Stergios.
John was President of Schoeppner Construction Management, Managing Partner at WSRS Properties, WTS Property, Schoeppner Properties, and Plaza South Realty. He was a well respected businessman and community supporter. He loved working hard but also enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor.
A graduate of Central Catholic ’84, he also attended Ohio University. John loved boating with his family and friends at Lake Cable and later at Marco Island, Florida. His spare time was spent following the Cleveland Browns, THE OHIO STATE Football, and had a Catholic partiality for Notre Dame Football.
John was a member of Brookside Country Club and Firestone Country Club. A lifelong golfer, John had great times with his longtime golfing group of Perry, Dr Mike, Greg, Dave, Dennis, Billy, Scott, Nick, Dr Jeff and several others at Brookside.
John loved his family and his family outings. If there were ten people coming he would cook for twenty. His energy, his smile, and his laugh will be sorely missed. Those that knew him will feel a void, those that didn’t missed meeting a genuinely good person.
We will miss you John as you sail off into the sunset, listening to “Margaritaville,” enjoying a cigar. We wish you fair winds and following seas Captain.
