Joseph Di Stefano Obituary

Joseph W. Di Stefano of Canton, passed away unexpectedly on July 15, 2017, on a fishing weekend celebrating his 80th birthday with his family. He was born on June 12, 1937 in Cokeburg, PA, to William “Bill” and Nellie (Shensky) Di Stefano. He grew up in East Liverpool, Oh and was commissioned an Army 2nd Lieutenant upon graduation from Ohio University. He retired from The Timken Company after 35 years of service. When Joe wasn't fixing something around the house, he loved to travel. He served his community and was a faithful member of St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church, where he held many leadership positions, was awarded Man of the Year, and sang in the choir. He was pragmatic, cared deeply for his family, and was always ready to help others. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Esther (Sam) Cascio and his loving wife of fifty years, Mary (Bumes) Di Stefano. Survivors include his second love and wife, Carol (Rollings) Di Stefano, whom he married July 19, 2014; his children, Christine (John) Kellamis of Canton, and Fr. Joseph (Melanie) Di Stefano of Campbell, OH; his grandchildren, Natalia and Christian Kellamis, and Michael Di Stefano; his step-children, Doug Albert, Cindy (Bruce) Hadley, and Debbie (Jeff) Brannan all of South Carolina, step-grand and great-grandchildren, his sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and relatives. Family and friends are invited to call at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 19, from 5 to 8 pm with Trisigon to be held at 6:30 pm. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service, which will be held on Thursday, July 20, at 11:00 am at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church (251 25th St. NW, Canton, OH 44709) with Rev. Dr. Nicholas V. Gamvas officiating, assisted by his son Rev. Fr. Joseph Di Stefano and other Metropolis Clergy. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
