Joseph “Joe” L. Homoney age 78 of  North Canton, passed away early Friday morning. He was born in Wilkinsburg, PA to the late Joseph and Sophie (Sofilkanich) Homoney. A lifetime Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates fan and having tried out for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Joe was a teacher and football coach for St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Green High School before retirement. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in North Canton. Joe loved to play sports, even being inducted in the Eastern PA Sports Hall of Fame. In retirement Joe and Carole found their way down to Hilton Head, South Carolina where he became an avid bocce player. He is survived by his wife Carole (Gregor) Homoney, son David (Kim) Homoney, daughter Julie (Clinton) Nickas, three grandchildren; Courtney, Keith, and Avalynne Nickas. Special thanks to our friends Steve and Dan Risaliti, Hop Collier, and Gail and Laurie Cousino for your weekly visits. A big thank you to the caring staff of St. Joseph Care Center in Louisville,Ohio for their love and dedication to Joe. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 10am at St. Paul Catholic Church in North Canton.
