Konstantinos Nikolaou Obituary

Konstantinos “Kosta” Nikolaou

1921 – 2021

Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Entrepreneur and friend to all that knew him --- passed away peacefully, on June 15, 2021, at his home in Canton, Ohio, surrounded by his family. Born October 22, 1921 in Kryoneriti, Evia, Greece to Georgios and Aikaterini (Sfakianou) Nikolaou. He lived all his life in the village he was born and raised in until he moved to the United States to be with his family. While in Greece Kosta was known by all who passed by his little village as he ran one of the general stores/restaurant/coffee house in the village. He made his own wine from grapes he nurtured and grew in his own vineyard. A great chef as well, he will always be remembered for many great meals prepared for weddings, baptisms, and family parties. He celebrated many events in his place of business with his family and friends. His passion for his faith and his church led him to become a canter of the church from a young age. He continued this practice up until moving away from his home church of Saint George in Kryoneriti, and up until he was no longer able to at all the churches he attended after moving to Canton. Fully immersing himself in his faith and teachings of the Orthodox church, he was always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need whenever the situation presented itself, whatever the situation may have been. Kosta was married to Anastasia Tsonou on July 2, 1950, and raised two loving children. He is survived by his children: Pam (Nick) Aslanides, George (Dina) Nikolaou, his grandchildren: Jim (Millie) Aslanides, Stacy Cooper (fiance Brandon Hudspeth), Elena (Greg) Kandis, Dino (Artemis) Nikolaou, Voula (Craig) Waikem, and his great grandchildren Zoey and Kirstin Aslanides, Pamela Cooper, and Eva and Niko Kandis, Brother: Nikolaos (Eleni) Vasiliou and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Anastasia, and his eight siblings. Family and friends will be received at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 from 10 to 11 am. Funeral service will begin in the church at 11 am with Rev. Fr. Nicholas Halkias and Rev. Dr. Nicholas V. Gamvas officiating. Interment to follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, in Kosta's name.
