Margaret Trikilas “Little Yiayia,” age 94 of Canton, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021. She was born in Kilkis, Greece on February 22, 1927 to the late Zachariah and Sophia Caripides. Margaret worked for years in different department stores in the area. However, her true love was teaching Greek School at Holy Trinity and St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Churches for over 30 years. She is lovingly remembered for being everyone’s favorite Greek school teacher. A woman of strong faith, she was an active member of Holy Trinity, where she was part of the Koraes Ladies Society and the Senior Citizens of Holy Trinity.
Along with her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Nick Trikilas, brothers Pablo and Gus Caripides and God-daughter, Kimberly Cadman.
She is survived by her children Clara Michailides (fiance' Bob Johns), Rhoda Christ, and Maria (Steve) Destefano all of Canton; grandchildren Thomas Michailides, Nick (Cindy) Michailides, Allison (Mike) Sarris, Stephen (Debbie) Humphrey, Paul (Leslie) Humphrey, Steven (Jackie) Destefano, Nicolette (Kurt) Thomas; great- grandchildren Sam, Gabrielle, Aison, Margaret, Dean, Luke, Nicholas, Mason, Zachariah, Audrey, Maximus, Nora, Mia, Landon, and Vincent. Also survived by her sister Morphe (Gus) Konstas; God-daughter Sophie Manolas; Pete Christ, Terry Humphrey, and Natalie Michailides; many special nieces and nephews; as well as many friends who were very important in her life.
Family and friends will be received at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. in the church, with Rev. Fr. Nick Halkias officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
