Mary (Marianthe) Aslanides
Mary Aslanides, 87, of Louisville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at the Sanctuary Grande after a long illness. Born in Lefkohori, Greece on November 7th, 1935 to the late Thanasi and Alexandra Athanasiadis. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Paul, sister Fotini of Greece, and brothers Costa, John and Greg of Australia.
She is survived by her children: Roula and Tim Stern, Pan and Cheryl Aslanides, and Tom Aslanides. Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren: Sam (fiancé Mackenzie Hunt) and Alex (Lori) Stern, Paul (fiancé Ariel Hunt), Steven, and Elizabeth (fiancé Anthony Lanza) Aslanides, great granddaughter Ada Stern, sisters Vasso Christolidou of Greece and Irene Pertsinides of North Canton, brother Christos Athanasiadis of Australia, sister-in-law Ann Simonides of Louisville and many nieces and nephew in America, Greece, and Australia.
Mary was a lifelong member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, as well as a member of both the Koraes Ladies Society and the Senior Citizens group. Yiayia, as she was fondly known, enjoyed baking for family and friends, and loved to Greek dance any chance she got.
Family and friends will be received at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Wednesday, November 30th from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Funeral Services will begin at 12:00pm with Father Nickolas Halkias officiating. Interment to follow in Forest Hill cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox church in her name. The family wishes to thank Dr. Louis Shaheen, Sanctuary Grande, and Absolute Hospice for the great care they gave to mom.
