Mary A. (Diamond) Hopkins age 102, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022 after a brief illness. She was born on February 8, 1920 in Louisa, Kentucky to the late John and Martha (Carter) Liesegang. Mary resided in Canton for 35 years before moving to Deerfield, Ohio. She was a member of Deerfield Evangelical Friends Church. She worked as a waitress at the Airport Inn in Canton. She was the Treasurer for the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pleasant View Fire Department for a few years and then became President until she resigned and moved to Deerfield. Mary was the Secretary and Treasurer of Quaker Circle at Deerfield Church for 10 years before retiring. She was the Treasurer of the Hickory Grove Road Owners Association for 5 years, retiring in 2005. Mary loved her flowers and crocheting, especially afghans. She and her husband Allen “Hoppy” traveled for 12 years in their motor home seeing most of the United States. They enjoyed meeting new people and seeing new scenery. On September 18, 2004 they renewed their wedding vows after 45 years of marriage. Mary is survived by her son George (Patsy) Hopkins of Louisville, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Beckham Diamond, second husband Allen “Hoppy” Hopkins, sons George, Terry, Roscoe, and John Diamond, sisters Anna May Adams, Helen Issac, and brother Bartlett Liesegang, Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, April 20th from 11:00 am to 11:45 a.m. at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. Services will follow at noon with Pastor Jody Hill officiating. Interment will be in North Lawn Cemetery.
