Mary H. Makris nee Papacostas, passed away suddenly on February 17, 2021, with her loving husband Stefanos E. Makris by her side. She is survived by sons, Emmanuel and George Makris. Mary was preceded in death by her parents George Papacostas and Elizabeth (Saimes) Papacostas, as well as sisters Christine Muntean and Sona Papacostas, and brother-in-laws Anthony and Michael Makris. She is also survived by brothers Peter (Anne) Papacostas, John (Jeannie) Papacostas, George (Marcia) Papacostas, Theodoros (Sabrina) Papacostas and sisters Esther Cross and Alexandria Diaz. Mary also leaves behind a very special aunt and godmother, Mable Saimes, as well as eight godchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and
nephews who cared deeply for her. Her clowder of felines won’t be the same without her. Mary was born on Christmas Day, 1960 in Canton , Ohio and was a McKinley High School graduate. She was a long time employee, along with her mother and sisters, at the Hoover
Company in North Canton. She and her husband Steve owned and operated Manny’s Restaurant in the Southgate Shopping Center.
Mary was the consummate homemaker and mother to all. She was the glue that kept the extended family together. She hosted all the holidays and family gatherings and no one was ever without a place at the table. Our world will never be the same without her. Services will be conducted by Rev. Fr. Nicholas Halkias on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Canton. Viewing starts at 10:00 am followed by the service at 11:00 am. Burial in the Eastview Section of the Forest Hill Cemetery in Canton.
