Michael Phillip Wasik
1958-2021
Michael “Mike” Wasik, 1958-2021, age 63, of Massillon, passed away suddenly on the evening of November 19, 2021. He was born on February 1, 1958 to Edna and Henry Wasik. Mike graduated from Perry high School in 1976 and began his 38-year career in real estate shortly after. Mike loved spending time with his family. Whether it was gathering around the fireplace at home, or road-tripping around the country, Mike was there for it. He lived life fully present in the moment. He was just as generous with his time and words of wisdom, as he was with his love. He enjoyed working on cars with his son, most recently a 1999 Miata. He loved hiking and biking the local parks with his wife and daughter. Mike’s favorite place in the world was Chautauqua Lake, NY, most often found fishing with his brothers. (All the bass now have a great “sigh of relief”) The silhouette of a man in a ballcap, sitting in his boat on the horizon, with a fishing pole in one hand, and a beer in the other - that was Mike Wasik. Not only was he an avid fisherman, but he was also a skilled slalom skier - a skill he passed on to his daughter. Mike was an amazing man - husband, father, brother, and friend. In honor of his generous spirit, he gave the gift of life through organ donation, mainly through his liver - something Mike would get a good chuckle out of. He will be greatly missed - not only for his infectious smile and his cheerful greeting - “Yellow?”- on the other end of the phone, but for so much more.
He is survived by his wife Karen (Bell) Wasik, daughter Amanda Wasik, son Phillip Wasik, brothers Dave (Peg), John (JoMarie), Tony (Cindy), Patrick (Connie), Henry (Tina) and Chris (Joanne) Wasik, sister Theresa (Jim) Milk, cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and a community of friends.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, November 29th at the Rossi Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, November 30th at St. Joan of Arc Parish at 11:00 a.m. where the funeral procession will form. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to help defray the cost of the funeral.
