Nick A. Kotema age 85 of Massillon, passed away Thursday afternoon. Born in Canton to the late Michael and Mary (Opat) Kotema, he was preceded in death by his brothers John, Joseph, Paul, Steve Kotema, sisters Agnes Mancini, Helen Lepore, Mary Ciconti, and Joyce Kotema. Nick was a 1954 graduate of Lincoln High School. He was an avid fan, supporter for the Canton McKinley Bulldogs having served as an usher for both basketball and football games for many years. He also was an usher for many NFL Hall of Fame games. Nick loved to bowl having bowled in many leagues throughout Stark County and bowled in many ABC tournaments throughout the United States. He also played on many fumbleball teams in his early days. He retired from the Timken Company after 36 years of service. Nick is survived by his wife of 63 years Rose (Spino) Kotema, children Tammy (Gregg) Arrendale, Nick (Stephanie) Kotema, Stephen (Diana) Kotema, five grandchildren; Derek and Jared Kotema, Eric Tharp, Brandon Henry, Taylor Gilles, sisters Ann Montgomery, Jane Collingsworth, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Nick loved Italian festivals, polka music, and his beloved New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Steelers. The family would like to thank the care givers at Massillon Family Practice, Mercy Hospital and the Laurels of Massillon. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 10 to 11 am at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. A Private family service will be held at 11am. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Nick's name.
