Peter R. Schiavone

Peter R. Schiavone, age 85 of North Canton, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. He was born in Canton on February 16, 1939 to the late Rocco and Pearl (Coletti) Schiavone. A 1957 graduate of Lehman High School, he next served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Pete later continued his education at Kent State University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Physics. He worked for 40 years as a computer engineer for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, retiring in 2003. Pete was a member of Christ the Servant Parish and the Jaguar Club of Ohio. He loved to do activities outside - anything from yard work, to golf, to walking literally hundreds of miles throughout the parks of Stark County. He passionately restored his antique car and later helped revive the family’s tradition of making wine, along with his brothers. He was as good a son, a brother, a dad, an uncle, a father-in-law, a grandpa, a neighbor, a friend, a coworker and a patient as anyone could hope for. Along with his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Elaine Schiavone, brother John Schiavone, and sister Anna Malone. He is survived by his son Rob (Jen) Schiavone, grandchildren Matt and Ben, brother Joseph (Jonanne) Schiavone, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gene and Lorraine Lunieski, sister-in-law Julie Long, and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at Christ the Servant Parish on Saturday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will begin in the church at 10 a.m., with Rev. Fr. Scott Kopp as celebrant. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Pete's memory, to Christ the Servant Parish, Crossroads Hospice, or The Inn at Whitewood Village.
