Sara "Sally" Zufall Obituary

Sara (Sally) Ellett Zufall, RN passed away peacefully on April 14, 2022 at Glenwood Care and Rehabilitation. She was born on November 7, 1926, in Alliance, Ohio. She was the daughter of William C. and Florence (Van Meter) Ellett of Alliance. Sally was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence (Larry/Pop) V. Zufall, Jr. in 1994; grandson, L. Victor (Vic) Zufall IV in 1993; one sister Jane Druckenbrod of Colorado and one brother William (Bill) Ellett, PhD of Maryland.

Upon graduation from Alliance High School in 1944, Sally entered Mercy School of Nursing and became an RN in 1947. Throughout her 30 plus years in the medial field, she worked at Mercy and Timken Mercy Hospitals on the OB-GYN floor and Myers Nursing Home (currently Bethany) for six of those years.

Sally was united in marriage to Lawrence V. Zufall, Jr. on December 21, 1947. They celebrated 47 years together until his passing.

Sally was a resident of Canton since 1944 and a member of First Lutheran Church since1961. She was a member and the recorder of her TOPS group for many years. Throughout the years, Sally enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and vinyl weaving. She loved playing cards with family and friends and often partnered with her good neighbor Jean to play Bridge. In 2011, she became a resident at Glenwood Independent/Assisted Living. As a devoted dog lover, Sally shared her home with many Crocker Spaniels. She was an avid reader and loved board games, teaching practical life lessons, taking educational and historical day trips, being on committees at church, ice cream, and Diet Coke; above all, she loved her family. After Sally retired, she and Pop volunteered at the Animal Attic and also enjoyed traveling on bus trips. After the death of her husband, Sally continued traveling with friends Shirley, Bill, and Louise.

Sally is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence (Larry) V. III and Michele (Pelyak) Zufall of Canton; granddaughters, Valerie (Zufall) Stevens (Korey) of Canton; Traci McGough Zufall Patrick (Sean) of Trinity, Florida; great- granddaughters Sadie Zufall Phillips (Brandon)of Hudson, Florida; Korie Stevens of Canton; great-great-grandchildren Bowen and Vivienne Phillips of Hudson, Florida; sister-in-law Kathy Ellett of Maryland; several nieces and nephews especially Marcia Fokey from Colorado who visited and lovingly checked on her for as long as we can remember.
