Steve M. Miller, February 20, 1925 - November 28, 2022. Steve was born and raised in Barberton, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his parents Peter and Elizabeth Miller, who immigrated from Hungary to Barberton in 1924, his brothers Joseph, Peter and Mike Miller and by his wife of 65 years Evelyn Casey Miller. He is survived by his daughters Christine E. Miller ( Marcia G. Campoy), Jane James ( Roger James), grandchildren Jeremy Wayne James and Rebecca Jane James and his great grandchildren, Liam Stephen James and Delaney Ardiss James.

Steve graduated from Coventry High School and attended Kent State University following his service in the Navy during WWII where he served in the South Pacific. He worked at Seiberling for five years and then embarked on a banking career for a combined 21 years working at Great Northern in Barberton, Citizen Savings for 10 years, Massilon Savings and Harter Bank. He then spent the next 20 years working for the Housing Urban Development (HUD) in Cleveland, Ohio. He commuted daily to Cleveland in rain, snow or sunshine enjoying multi-family home appraisal in the northeastern Ohio counties.

He fell in love with the love of his life, Evelyn Casey, while working at Seiberling and attending Kent State University. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed taking his daughters and their friends and later his grandchildren fishing in the lakes around Canton. He was an amazing gardener. Every summer he grew an abundance of tomatoes for the family, neighbors and friends. He was an avid golfer and loved golfing with family and friends at Holiday, Meadowlake and area courses. He and Evelyn enjoyed many weekend outings with friends to courses in the area as well as in South Carolina and Pennsylvania.

Steve was a man of deep faith. He ushered at Our Lady of Peace, now called Christ the Servant for 65 years. He enjoyed volunteering at countless fish fry’s and festivals. For 25 years he volunteered for AARP assisting hundreds of seniors with their tax returns. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks and Eagles.

He was an inquisitive person. He enjoyed taking classes, learning new skills and keeping abreast of national and international news. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather always ready to give a hand or spend time together. He taught his family through his daily life about the preciousness of life, the importance of gratefulness and the beauty in simple acts of kindness. He was a man beloved by many for his generous, kind, light-hearted nature. He had a boyish smile and sparkly eyes even in his 90’s He lived a full life of love and service and will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Celebration of a life well-lived was held at Christ the Servant Church on December 1, 2022.
