Vivian Meeker Obituary

Vivian F. Meeker, age 80 of Louisville, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born in Canton on March 6, 1943 to the late Ivan and Rita (Becherini) Ray. Vivian was a 1963 graduate of Glenwood High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Barbara Jean Stein, Rita Bridenthal, and Jeannette Pelfrey, brother in law David Pelfrey Sr.; Brother Ivan Ray, Jr.; and husband Frank Meeker. Vivian is survived by her daughter Tina (Tim) Miller; grandchildren Timothy Miller, Jr. and Faith Miller; nephew David Pelfrey Jr. "Tinkie"; sisters Karen Ray, and Carol Cronick; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Vivian worked at the Hoover Company, until she became a full time housewife. Vivian loved nothing more than taking care of the house, the yard, cooking, and taking care of the dogs. Vivian was a committed wife and mother. She enjoyed various things for recreation. She bowled on leagues for years at the College Bowl, where she met many friends. Vivian's proud achievement was when she bowled a 299, only leaving 1 pin, which the bowling alley gave her. She was a diehard bingo player, never missing her bingo nights. She played bingo with her Mom and sisters, and enjoyed those nights away from the house. Vivian also loved playing cards with her family; she loved a good game of 500 rummy or 7 card rum.

She always looked forward to her and Frank taking a trip to Amish Country, where they would shop and eat. Frank and Vivian, would make spontaneous plans when they had their motor home; where they would up and leave for a road trip. Frank had a nickname for Vivian; he would either call her “Barbie” or “His Bride.” Vivian was full of life, full of love. She would do anything for anyone; she would give you the shirt off her back if she loved you. Vivian did things her way, and always tried to make those closest to her happy. She had strength that nobody even knew. She fought until the end, and is now at peace with her loved ones.

Family and friends will be received at the Rossi Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 10 to 11:45 a.m. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home at 12 noon. Entombment to follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
