LUCY R. (MATTACHIONE) HOSNER, AGE 86 of Canton, passed away Monday morning into the arms of our Heavenly Father after an extended illness. Lucy was born as Canton’s first New Years Baby in 1928 to the late Joseph and Antoinette Mattachione.  She was preceded in death by her brothers Al and Sam Mattachione and sisters Jean Perciballi and Mary Vertolli. She was a 1946 graduate of McKinley High School. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church, former member of the parish council, Altar and Rosary Society, and the Bernadette’s. Lucy was an avid bocce player and bowler but her favorite pastime was playing cards with family and friends. Along with her husband, she co-founded Hosner Carpet in 1966. They worked side-by-side until she retired in 1993. She is survived by the love of her life, Albert Hosner, with whom she celebrated 66 wonderful years of marriage. She was blessed with 7 children; Sandy (Red) Fouts of Gainsville, GA, Stan (Kari), Terry (Chris), Joe (Kelly) all of Massillon, Mary (Michael) Lucius of North Canton, Cristine (Tim) Cummins of Summerville, SC, William (Gina) of Canton, 24 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law Mario and Ginny Mattachione of North Canton, and sister Gloria Sikora of Honolulu, Hawaii. She will be remembered as a beautiful, devoted and loving wife and mother and a remarkable business woman. Her beautiful spirit will always be with us. Family and friends will be received on Friday from 6 to 8 pm at the Rossi Funeral Home and Saturday morning from 9 to 10 am at St. Joan of Arc Church with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 am, Rev. Fr. G. David Weikart celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
