Joe F. Kalial, 100, passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, January 1st. Joe was born in Akron to the late Joseph and Mary Kalial. He was also preceded in death by brothers Edward, Charles, George, Eli, Hank, and sisters Lena, Helen, and Josephine. In 1947 he married the love of his life, Evelyn Karam. They spent 60 loving years together before her passing in 2007. He retired as owner of a small business in 1985. Joe was a World War II Army veteran having served in the European Theatre. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish. He belonged to a number of church organizations and served many years as an usher. He was one of the original members of the Kirby Club, a Lebanese organization in Canton, a life-long member of the Elks Club and the Loyal Order of Moose. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling and golf, and throughout his entire life enjoyed watching sports and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter Karen Khourey (Michael) of North Canton, grandson Joseph Khourey (Janette) of Portsmouth, Va., and sister-in-law Therese Karam of Canton and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 10:30 am to 12 noon at the Rossi Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at noon with Rev. Fr. Don King officiating. Private inturment will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Mercy Hospice. A heartfelt thank-you to Arlene and the staff of Visiting Angels of Canton and friends and neighbors for all their loving care.
